ButterShare moves files directly between your devices, peer to peer, with no upload stop-over on a server. Open buttershare.com on both machines, enter the same room code, and the transfer begins in real time. There is no account to create and nothing to install, so it works on a borrowed laptop as easily as on your own. Traffic is encrypted end to end, so the contents stay private from anyone between the two devices. Photos, videos, documents and whole folders can go in one session, up to 10,000 files. If a direct connection is blocked by a strict network, an encrypted relay carries the traffic so the transfer still completes, and if a connection drops mid-way, checkpoints stored in the browser let it resume instead of starting over. It is the fastest way to hand a file to someone standing next to you, whatever the file type.
